Hmm . [06 Dec 2007|06:51pm]
Had a rather unproductive day at school. They had a test so I sat in the Teacher's room reading my comic. Then I finished it. Damn.

They called me in cause they needed me for after school though so that was semi-useful at least. It was when I was about to leave that they told me I needed to plan next week's lesson.

Um. Excuse me? Shouldn't you have told me that when I was nearly falling asleep at my desk? That way I could have DONE WORK. Bitches.

I came home and tried the Yummy Ramen set. The fried rice was peppery but good--the size of my dad's fist. The gyoza--six of them--were bigger than my palm. And the ramen could sate a sumo wrestler. Needless to say I couldn't finish it all. It was pretty good. But still, well, ramen.

I'm so tuckered cause I haven't been getting good sleep lately. I might take a bath and just go to bed.

Toothpaste bomb! [05 Dec 2007|03:02pm]
So today I had only one class in the afternoon so I had to find ways to keep myself busy. It wasn't too difficult considering I was at my favorite school and basically have free reign to wander the premisis.

First I read a little of my book Darren Shan, by Darren Shan (second volume) as Japanese practice. By the way, I emailed the author the other day and he actually emailed me back. He seems very sweet but he looks like a cross between Benny Hill and and--well I better not say it.

Half-way through reading I hear the noise of my kids guffawing like the pack of hyenas they are and I just -know- something good happened so I ran out into the hall. Apparently some kid dropped and stepped on his tube of toothpaste (whether intentionally or unintentionally is still up for debate) and sent toothpaste flying all over the main lobby. Thankfully the floors aren't carpeted. So we all had a good chuckle then I helped clean up.

After that I went to art class and there were four fist fights, and one ocassion of a boy pinning another to the ground and humping him while screaming, 'Gay sex! Gay sex!'. This happens all the time (and I've long since got used to it). There are also boys sitting in each other's laps, which is normal in Japan and not considered homosexual at all. I also was asked if all gaijin have big penises and how many times I've been dirty with someone. The answer for the penis question was, 'I heard it varies by person and not all of them are big, but I wouldn't know.' And as for the playing dirty question, I answered it with a, 'I always play clean.' Which is an excellently ambiguous answer for me--and gets a laugh out of the kids.

After that I went to the libarary and looked at more books. I am thinking of getting some more pre-teen novels to practice with and work my way up to the high school level. If I get to the high school level I can definately pass my test next December.

Lunchtime: I had a delicious lunch of my home-made spaghetti and meatballs, a diet coke, and chocolate bread and a tangerine for dessert. I had to wolf it down in about five minutes cause I had class earlier than expected.

My first class with one of the HS senior groups (electrical students) was a success. They really like me and I enjoy teaching them. The seniors seem to be more easy going, and hyper but attentive all at the same time. The freshmen, whom I usually teach, are easy going to a degree, VERY hyper and about attentive about 25% of the time. Which I've heard is a high percentage for such a school.

After class I decided to read more of my book, then I came in here to post and TUH DAH, the electritian who installed my new laundry machine yesterday (My old one from 8 years ago broke all the way, finally. And the prefecture board of education just bought me a new one so I don't have to hand wash my laundry in the sink anymore like a hobo.) ANYWAY, the electrician said hello to me and I was surprised to see him at my school. Apparently he's installing a bunch of security cameras with a large team of electricians today to 'keep an eye on the kids, cause there are so many bad students here.'

I told him that this was my favorite school and the students do bad things in front of you, so the cameras are really unecessary. He laughed. He's a friendly old man. I also told him about the toothpaste bomb this morning. He thought it was hilarious, too.

Well, that's all for my update. My kids told me where a good ramen resturant is near my house and they suggested the, 'yummy ramen plate' and told me the magic words to use if I want 'double portions of noodles'. I doubt I will, but only cause I'm not a starving 16 year old boy.

I can't wait to go home for Christmas, even if TATS is stringing along.

Today [27 Nov 2007|04:23pm]
I've been late with paying my loans in America lately but I just sent about 1k home today. I'm almost done paying my principal back the loan he gave me too. Wohaa. Also, today I learned that I'm getting about 900 dollars from the time I moved in about six months ago. Yay slow Japanese paperwork coming through in time for xmas.

Tatsuro is driving me nuts, I bought a plane ticket to America with the guy and now that our friendship has reached a rough point he's been slow in getting me the ticket I PAID FOR. I will murder him in his sleep or send one of my minions to do it. I haven't quite figured it out yet.

I'm really tired from work and am grading papers at home as we speak. I really want a Sonic Chilli dog.

The end.

So I was thinking about what I want to do when I get back to America, and I think, "Hey, why not become a watch maker?"

Schools are free nowadays, so all I'd have to do is worry about room and board and some 2000 dollars worth of tools, but it seems worth it esp. since the median salary for a watch repair specialist is 50k. Which is a grand whopping lot more than what I'm making as an English Teacher. Besides, if I work for Seiko I can use my Japanese and my degree won't be a waste.

Just so I don't jump into anything like crazy fast though, I'm going to buy some cheap watch making tools and a couple 10 dollar pocket watches from Harajuku and try to crack them open to see if I can have fun. If its tedious, I'll just have to think of something else.

But then again, I've always been interested in watches and the like. It's a career that blends science with art pretty well. The only problem I have is I suck at math. I hope math won't be used too much in watch repair. I know for making parts it will be needed but--hey. I can cope if I'm having fun.

Not much has been happening. My kids are graduating this month and most of them are happy but Masaki, my romeo, has been really upset lately cause I think he's going to miss his friends and (not to sound arrogant) me.

Tonight Ramy is coming over to teach me how to make some artichoke chicken thing and such. So I'm psyched about that. But I really need to start cutting processed sugar out of my diet before I get diabetes or something cause hot damn I just eat way too much. Ramy is really concerned about it too.

Uh what else, yesterday was hina matsuri which is a girls festival of sorts, I didn't do anything but I got free cake at Rira's last night cause I guess it's people's job to give girls sweets on this day. That was pretty good.

I've lost the will to write about anything. More updates later.

I miss my Colette.

I wonder how she's doing. I worry about her. She's probably the best friend I have in this world and likely the next if there is one.

I know I'm not the best listener, I'm kind of socially retarded. I'm glad she puts up with me.

So, are you okay, Colette?

My kids brought brass knuckles to school and punched holes in the walls. Then they took a cigarette break on the veranda.

All in all, a normal day.

Today was an interesting day, I was grading papers and the subject was, "What do you want to do on winter vacation?" and one of my boys (the crazy things) wrote, "I want to go to the moon, but I can't cause I have cram school. I want to go to the moon because I want to be Sailor Moon." CRAZY BOY. Haha, made me laugh.

Then, after lunch, Dai-kun, one of my trouble students well...the school's trouble students really, he's an angel for me...he came into the classroom and took off his pants. He then proceeded to walk around the ass-cold room (no heat) in his boxershorts (which, by the way were tacky orange and yellow hawaiian print) for about ten minutes. The protests of his classmates (Which were mainly, "GROSS!" "Those aren't shorts Dai!" and "Put some clothes on!") went ignored. The silly kid only stopped strutting around like the cock of the walk when he saw the scariest teacher in my school (Who's nickname is "Mafia Teacher" and "Dandy") was spoted coming down the hall. Man, those pants were back on before you could blink an eye.

Lastly, I went to RiRa's tonight and played darts against the pros. Lost humiliatingly all three times i.e. Their score 700+ my score around 300. BUT, I got my VERY FIRST HAT TRICK! Shinji, the owner and 'master' of the bar, was so happy for me he ran out from behind the bar and gave me a hug. Then Yoshi and Michu made me take some pictures with my phone and hugged me too.

SO HERE IT IS FOLKS: MY FIRST HAT TRICK!

And for my mom. You gotta see THIS.

I have only one thing to say and it's, "Toshi. You're so good."

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE? )

I had my day off today but I went to school anyway to drop off gifts and ended up working today anyway. Afterwards I went to a temple with my kids and the cake shop. :) They were helping me get rid of some stuff in my house that is 'bad luck' and has to be destroyed at a temple.

I'm thinking of having a bosozoku jacket made that says, "海外蛮人團"

Or litterally, "Overseas Barbarian Gang."

Just cause it's funny.

Although "米国蛮人團," "American Barbarian Gang" sounds funny too.

What do you think?

EDIT

WAIT

Inspiration has struck

I'll do the barbarian thing in big kanji, then on either side in little kanji I'll have
"喧嘩上神"
and
"料理上手”

Which is respectively, "Supreme God of Fighting" and "Good at cooking"!!!

In May I gave [info]baka___neko a Dutch Oven (-10 points).

Overall, I've been nice (91 points). For Christmas I deserve a shiny red ball!

Japanese people can't drive. Cars. Bicycles. Doesn't matter what. I've talked to Chinese and Korean gaijin too and they say the same damn thing. They're the worst drivers in the world. They don't follow their own rules even.

Rule 1: Drive on the left.

So here I am riding my bike through rice fields that cut through town and I'm on the LEFT. I have a light so people can still see me so WHY lord WHY did I get into a head on collision with another bike. Do they think I'm magically going to move to the right somehow? Didn't they think they should be on the LEFT like their own RULES say. No, this guy just comes at me full speed (my brakes suck) I try to avoid it but BANG.

Head on collision.

I ask if the guy is okay and he grunts and says something to those terms and then I apologize cause thats what you do here and he does a half assed sorry back. Stupid punk high school kids. So he looks like he's ready to take off in a rush and I'm like, "Is this your towel here?" and he's like "Oh yeah." And after I scramble around on the floor for items he's not even bending over to pick up he takes off at jet speed.

So I'm like, "Ooo-kay."

I go home lift my hand to put the key in the door and notice my hand is covered in BLOOD. I have a pretty high pain tolerence so I really didn't feel it at all but still, my hand is BLOODY. So I go inside wash it, cut the skin that got ripped off with my nail clippers and GOOD news is that it's only my middle finger that got fucked up. Bad news: it got fucked up pretty bad. It bleed for about two hours last night nonstop -- even with my bandaid on it.

There is so much flesh missing I'm afraid if I take off the bandaid before it heals properly my nail might fall off.

So Felicia met Shinya from DeG and forgot to tell me about it x_x. I found out when I went back to my bar and they're like "SHINYA CAME YOU MISSED IT OMG." But good news is Shinya knows about -me-.

Shinya and Shinya's friend: So are you strong at sake?
Felicia: YEAH!
Barmaster: Oyabun is stronger.
S and SF: Who's Oyabun?
Felicia: HEY I'm strong too!
Barmaster: Yeah but Oyabun's stronger than you. Oyabun drinks habushu and Awamori and doesn't get tipsy!
S and SF: WOW!
Barmaster: Oyabun is Felicia's friend. She's ----blah blah blah

So yeah. How silly is that? Shinya from DeG not only has heard of me by reputation, but he has heard of me by the nickname OYABUN.

Somehow that makes life good.

Today, one of the teachers got mad at a student in my Elementary school, threw a crutch at him (the teacher had recently broke his leg in some accident or something) yelled at him, told him to come over and hit the poor boy so hard I swear people on the first and second floors could hear it.

...and I thought we weren't allowed to touch the kids.

I wonder if this is normal.
